Fungal enzymes and cellulose degradation
In collaboration with Dr. Giuliano Sciara at the French INRA/Aix-Marseille University we are studying the structure and function of fungal enzymes involved in cellulose and lignine degradation for use in biofuel production and green chemistry applications.
The Fungal Biodiversity and Biotechnology Laboratory is a joint research unit of INRA (French National Institute for Agricultural Research) and AMU (Aix-Marseille University) located in the Marseille Polytech School.
This Unit studies filamentous fungi as innovative means for biomass valorisation for chemical precursors, high value-added compounds and energy. Research topics are aimed at enzymatic degradation of lignocellulose and the evaluation and optimisation studies for development of more efficient or new process. The aim of our research is the development of bio-processes using carbon renewable resources as a substitute to fossil carbon.
